Newhall Projects Ltd will shortly be carrying out essential resurfacing works to a number of footpaths in Newhall, as the existing surface materials have shown signs of stress and are not acceptable for adoption by Essex County Council as the Highway Authority.

Please see below, map showing the affected areas:

Map showing areas affected by resurfacing works in Phase 1. Newhall.

The programme will take place in two key stages and may be subject to change due to weather conditions or resource availability.

Stage 1 – Removal of Existing Surface (Planing – Removing the top layer of the existing road or footpath surface)

    • St Nicholas Green
    • Honor Street
    • Brickcroft Hoppit
  • Day 3 – Wednesday 2 July:

    • Great Auger Street

Stage 2 – Resurfacing Works

Access & Safety Information

  • There will be no pedestrian access on the affected footpaths during live working (both during planing and resurfacing).
  • Vehicle access must be restricted on each day to allow safe progress:
  • On 30 June, please ensure vehicles are not parked on or near Cross Way, Ramblers Lane, or Simplicity Lane.
  • On 1 July, please keep Honor Street, St Nicholas Green, and Brickcroft Hoppit clear.
  • On 2 July, ensure Braggowens Ley and Great Auger Street are free of vehicles.
  • Vehicles may return after planing, but will need to be removed again on the corresponding resurfacing date to allow works to proceed.

⚠️ Important Safety Advice

  • Please take extreme care when walking near works, as there may be raised ironworks and trip hazards following the removal of the existing surface.
  • Banksmen in orange high-vis will be on-site to assist with safe access to homes if absolutely necessary.
  • During resurfacing, bituminous materials will be used which can stick to footwear and damage internal flooring – please avoid walking on newly surfaced areas until fully cooled.
  • All roads and footpaths must remain clear of vehicles during working hours to allow machinery to operate safely.

We appreciate your cooperation in supporting these works, which are a necessary step toward adoption of these roads by Essex County Council.
